North Dakota
North Dakota is one of a handful of American states that are position along the America-Canada border. It also happens to have the third lowest population in the entire country. The majority of the state is little more than open stretches of farmland and wild growth. It was in this very state that the Lewis and Clark expedition ran into the first bear of their adventure. This state maintained a very low population until the late 1800's. As the railroads began to cut through the state, settlers began to find homes here. Even so, it still has a very low population in comparison to other states.
